OK, so I've noticed for a while now that a good amount of politicians are making thousands of dollars a year. Do they really need all that money when they know that there are hundreds of people homeless, jobless, and hungry in the streets? I think politicians and other people who make that much money should be more generous with their money instead of hording it. We are not in the right economy to be selfish about how much you make.
It seems that right now, a lot of major companies are trying to get a bail out from the government. I agree with Obama's cap to the salary for the company executives because they can afford to lose a little bit in their lavish lifestyle. How can top executives be angry about this salary cap? There are people in their company just trying to make ends meet or have just lost their job and yet the executives are selfish and want more money.
I don't think we should be giving away billions of dollars that we don't have, I think we should cut down on the salaries of senators and executives. They might only need a little from the government but I think they are asking for more because they want to keep their lavish lifestyle up. Just cut some of the executives pay down, which I know can seem hard for some to do, and use that money to keep a few jobs. It's really simple.
What kind of world do we live in where we can allow this to happen? A sick, twisted, greedy world. That's what we have become. The question is how can we allow this to go farther? I think Obama is on the right track, at least with the salary cap idea, and I support him for that.
I also believe that we should the same thing for movie stars. They make a lot of money and a lot of them have become greedy or "divas" and won't accept less that $...... amount. According to IMDB.com Brad Pitt earned $4,500,000 for a 30 second Superbowl Commercial. Really? For 30 seconds of air time? That's just astronomical!
Although I have to admit some movie stars and excutives have it right. Again, take Brad Pitt, he donated $100,000 to a children's learning museum (again according to IMDB.com). While he does make an astronomical amount of money, he is donating a lot of it to charities and foundations. He is trying to better the world. A lot of people in the stock market and in our government should look to him as an example. To give sincerly to others instead of thinking of just themselves.
